Landrum, South Carolina: Discovering the Area Around Lake Lanier Escape
Lake Lanier Escape sits near Landrum, a small South Carolina town in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, right along the scenic Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Highway.
This Lake Lanier is a quiet, scenic lake tucked into the South Carolina Upstate, not to be confused with the much larger Lake Lanier in Georgia. The Palmetto Trail's Blue Wall Passage, a 14-mile route, actually winds right past the lake on its way through Landrum, making it easy to combine a lakeside stay with a hike straight from the property.
Blue Wall Preserve, a nearby nature preserve, has its own network of hiking trails and a hidden waterfall worth the walk. History and horse lovers should make time for the Historic Poinsett Stone Bridge nearby, and downtown Landrum itself is a charming small-town stop for local shops and restaurants. For a bigger day trip, both the Biltmore Estate and Chimney Rock State Park in North Carolina are within about an hour's drive.
